Glenelg – Sunset cruise

For Christmas, Bianca’s girls bought us a voucher for a sunset cruise at Glenelg. Booking this experience in advance was tricky because we couldn’t predict the weather. So, it was either going to be horrible or magical. Thankfully we were lucky. The weather was warm and calm – perfect conditions. We headed down to Glenelg harbour to get on the catamaran from Temptation Cruises. Since we arrived early, we grabbed a couple of beers and a bite from one of the many restaurants on the Marina – Junipers. Bianca loves a good Gin, so we also had a little tipple whilst we were waiting.

Fortunately we weren’t too drunk and managed to stay upright whilst getting on the yacht. There were some other passengers though, who looked like they lacked their sea-legs whilst still on the shore. We mentally decided not to be down-wind of them if the sea got a little unstable. The boys from Temptation Cruise were very good at explaining what would happen, and doing the safety briefing.

We pulled out of the harbour, and immediately found our way to the bar to get our first free drink. Christian selected two sparkling wines because nothing gets between him and something for free! The next challenge was to carry two full drinks up the narrow steps and across the sloped deck, without a free hand to hold onto something solid for balance. Like a champ, Christian managed to deliver the bubbles without spilling a drop – by ‘taxing’ each glass.

Some of the passengers elected to sit at the very front of the yacht, presumably thinking that would be the best spot to experience the views. They got a bit of a freshening up when we hit a couple of waves on our outward journey! The return journey was by sail, and considerably calmer.

The whole trip took about 90 minutes. The sunset was stunning and it was lovely watching the lights come on at the shoreline as the daylight faded. We really enjoyed this experience.
