If you are reading this blog, you will know that we love to eat at interesting and different restaurants. As a part of our mammoth round-Northern Europe tour, whilst in Finland, we went to the Harald Viking Restaurant in Helsinki.
The restaurant
The restaurant Harald is located on the first floor in the middle of the shopping centre. We nearly missed the door, and as we climbed the spiral staircase, we thought it might be closed, as it was very quiet. There was a very large group of Asian tourists who were at a large table and making problems for the staff. We were shown to a solid wooden table and given menus in English by a waitress dressed in viking servant’s clothes.

We decided to eat just the main course, as we were there at lunchtime. I had the “Harald’s Meat Pan”, which was Beef brisket, Smoky lamb sausage, caramelized pork belly, warm tar-bbq sauce, creamy cheese potatoes, honey-roasted root vegetables and pickled red onion. Bianca had the “Meat Smoker’s Lamb”, which was Lamb sirloin, herb butter, Smoky lamb sausage, Wine of Wisdom sauce, artichoke mashed potatoes and vegetable fry-up.
We also had the house beers – a smoke beer and a honey beer. Both tasted subtly of either smoke or honey, and they were delicious.
The restaurant is a chain, there are multiple in Finland, so I would go back if we got a chance.
